Help Your Attorney Win Your Case
When a judge listens to the lawyers involved in a case, he or she also must take not only what any written legal statutes contain, but must also consider any previous cases and their decisions. Your attorney needs to have all of the facts to know where to begin looking for similar cases. The law, particularly case law, might wholly be on your side, but unless this information is presented to the judge, your case might not win. These cases are not always well-known but they are published in special books that provide the background of the case, the litigants' filed motions, and much more. Decisions without an appeal from the losing party do not make it into these books, however, so even though a friend or relative might have had a similar case unless an appeal was filed, such a decision cannot help in winning yours.
